Moving Quote Types and How To Get Them

The quoted price for your move is calculated based on the weight of you belongings and the distance you need to move them. In the price are also included the packages used and other services that you might require.

The moving company will give you a moving quote that is based on the weight they know about and the items they count so you should help the movers by showing them every single item that needs to be moved. Look in the garage, basement, attic to make sure you'll get an estimate as close as possible to the final price, since every extra item means extra cost.

You should get the moving quotes from at least 3 moving companies so you can compare prices. Here are some types of moving quotes: non-binding, binding and not to exceed quotes.

The non-binding quotes are nor bids or contracts, the non-binding quote is an aproximation of amount you'll have to pay depending on the mover's survey on the items that will be moved, the final cost being set after the weight of the shipment is measured. Even if the price is lower then with binding quotes, with the non-binding moving quotes there is no guarantee that the price won't be over the initial estimate.

If a non-binding moving quote is provided, the mover can't ask you to pay more than 110% of the estimate amount when shipment is delivered. After your shipment is completed you have 30 days to make payments for the additional services that were required or you requested and are over the 110% estimate.

Quite a lot of moving services also provide binding moving quotes. The binding quote means that you'll have to pay the estimated price even if the weight of the shipment is more of less than the estimated one.

The binding estimates cover the services and the goods that were listed when the estimate is given. Adding items or services before the items are loaded let's the mover revise the estimate. Or, if services are required after the shipment is in transit the price for those services can be paid 30 days after shipment delivery.

Make sure you make the arrangements for paying for the move. The charges for the move can usually be paid in cash, by certified check or money order. You should ask the chosen mover what kind of payment they accept.

Choose The Best Full Service Moving Companies For You

Trying to choose a mover that seems perfect for you has become rather complicated this days. All this because there are so many full service moving companies and it's hard for you to decide which one of them will best fit to your needs.

Here are some helpful tips for choosing a moving company that will deliver your stuff without any incidents.

First of all you should get an estimate. The majority of full service moving companies will give you an estimate but its's better for you to have an accurate one. So you have to know well all your requirements and you should make a list of al the items you are going to move including their aproximate weight.

It's also very good to test the market. So instead of choosing the first company you find, try calling as many as you can in order to make an idea about the differences between their pricing and services. Be careful to ask about the exact services you need to make sure that you will get the most accurate price.

A helpful thing available for you is The Better Business Bureau. This represents an agency that has information on the businesses in your area. You can contact a local BBB and check if there are any complaints against a full service moving company which you are thinking to work with.

The BBB won't recommend you any company but they will put their files at your disposal and you'll be able to research a moving company.

Another useful organization for you is The Department of Transportation also known as DOT. This is an government agency responsible for the licensing of all interstate movers. SO you should check with DOT if the full service moving company that you are going to choose has the authority to provide the services you need.

So if you find a good status at the DOT you can be sure that you have chosen a safe company to transport your goods.

But it's also useful to ask your friends and your relatives about any full service moving company that they already used or heard of. What you should keep in mind is that choosing a mover means giving them your precious goods. So you want to trust them that they will transport your belongings safe and fine. In conclusion try to choose the ones that you known for a long time and have the most experience.

What are all the services movers provide

When you are preparing for a move, you will find that there are a lot of details that have to be taken care of. You will have a lot of preparations to handle for the big day and it will take a lot of time for one or two people to handle. Most people find it a lot easier to hire movers to take care of all these things for them. Movers can make it a lot less stressful for everyone involved.

Movers can usually be found in most areas. In some companies, they will provide different services. There are some movers that do more and others that only provide minimal services. You will need to decide what you are looking for in the moving company that you hire. Think about all the things that you are going to need done and what you are going to be willing to pay for.

Some moving companies only provide the transportation part of the move. This means that you will have to do all the packing and the wrapping. For some of the companies, you will even have to load the boxes and packages up on the truck. This may not be what a lot of people want in their moving company. They may expect the movers that they hire to do all the work for them in order to make their life easier.

If this is the case, you should look for movers that provide all the services of moving. This will include the wrapping of items, boxing them up, loading and unloading the truck and driving to the new location. A lot of people want this full service in their moving companies. For this service, however, you are going to have to pay more for the cost. In the long run, it is usually worth the expense.

Most movers will even go the extra mile to pack one room at a time and then they will label them and put them in the rooms that they belong in the new house. This great time saving step will help a lot of people with the unpacking in the new home. When you know what is in each box and where it goes, you will save a lot of time and work in the end.

Some movers even have storage units available for the customer to store their unwanted items. This great feature will be a big help in most moves. This step will let you store the items that you do not want or cannot use in the new home. You will not have the bother of trying to find room for them. The items will be safely packed away in a storage container until you want them. This will also cost extra, but it again is worth the cost when it comes to making things a lot easier for your move.

6 Methods To Bring Down Moving Costs

6 Methods To Bring Down Moving Costs
by Justin Koh
There are many reasons why people moved. It could be due to a job transfer, getting married or even due to the upgrading of their home. When moving from one location to another, costs will definitely be incurred but the costs need not be high. We will look at some ways on how to bring the costs down.
1) Seek help from your friends. Instead of engaging a moving company to help you move the stuff, just give a call to ask your friends to help you out. If they have a car, ask them to drive your stuff to your new location and you can treat them to a nice dinner after that.
2) Get free boxes. Go to your supermarket or drug store and look for their designated area where they usually dump their boxes. They would be glad to pass you the boxes because you save them the hassle of bringing it to the rubbish dump. By doing so, you would have easily saved $100 or more when buying new boxes.
3) Use clothing to pack fragile items. Buying special materials to pack fragile and expensive items can be expensive. A cost saving tip is to wrap all these fragile items into your blankets, unwanted clothes, bathroom towels and even bed sheets. After you have moved to the new location, you can put them into the washing machine to wash.
4) Go shopping for a moving company. Log on to the web and check for moving company that are in your area. Compare rates between them and be sure to call them to ask for any hidden charges that might not be shown on their web page.
5) Check for insurance coverage. Check with your insurance agent if your homeowner's insurance will cover any damage to your stuff while moving. If the stuff is covered, you do not need to purchase additional insurance from the moving company.
6) Check gas rates in truck rental. If you are renting a truck to move your stuff, be sure to ask the rental company for the average mile-per-gallon of the truck. With the current exorbitant cost of gas prices, estimating the cost will help you to ensure that you won't go out of budget since you are responsible for paying for the gas in the truck.

Do not Lose Sleep Over Moving Day Obstacles

Relocating to a new home, whether it’s a classic bungalow, an urban walk-up or even a new college dorm, is an exciting adventure. Moving day can also prove to be frustrating, with obstacles like narrow hallways, sharp turns or multiple flights of stairs that make maneuvering large or bulky furniture into a new residence difficult or even impossible.

One-third (34 percent) of Americans have had difficulty getting a new mattress through a doorway, up a stairway or into a small space, according to Select Comfort’s “Sleeping Habits” survey. The same study found that 27 percent of respondents would prefer to sleep on a wider mattress. The desire for a wider mattress can often conflict with the constraints of moving. The Sleep Number bed, which can be transported in four easy-to-carry boxes, eliminates common moving-day hassles and allows people to transport a queen- or king-sized mattress through tight spaces.

The Sleep Number bed is different from a traditional innerspring mattress because its revolutionary, dual air-chamber technology allows for easy lifting and packing. In fact, both the Sleep Number mattress and its unique foundation can be fully disassembled and repacked into their original shipping boxes, reducing the size of the bed by nearly three-quarters. No longer will movers have to cut a box spring in half to fit in a narrow stairwell for a second-floor bedroom. And with Select Comfort’s new frameless technology, which features specially designed foundation legs, the need for an awkward traditional bed frame is eliminated.

When moving day comes, the Sleep Number boxes can conveniently be packed in a truck or SUV or shipped directly to the new residence.

Easy Assembly and a Better Night’s Sleep

The Sleep Number bed requires no tools and is simple to assemble -- one person can set up the bed in less than one hour. The Sleep Number bed foundation, used instead of a traditional box spring, utilizes polymer panels that interlock to create maximum support. The mattress is assembled by positioning two air chambers and high-density foam perimeters and comfort pads within a zippered Belgian Damask coverlet.

The two air chambers of the mattress are adjustable, via a hand-held remote control, and allow for each individual to find their Sleep Number and to choose the ideal firmness of their side of the mattress, without affecting their partner’s choice. A Sleep Number is a number between zero and 100 that represents each person’s ideal combination of mattress comfort, firmness and support on a Sleep Number bed. The Sleep Number bed is available in all standard mattress sizes, including Twin, Twin extra-long, Full, Queen, Eastern King and California King. Specialty-size beds are also available in Expanded Queen and Grand King models.

The Sleep Number bed is clinically proven to relieve back pain and improve sleep quality. In a study conducted at the Stanford University Medical Sleep Disorders Center, researchers found that 87 percent of those who slept on a Sleep Number bed experienced a greater percentage of REM sleep, with fewer sleep disturbances.

Select Comfort’s products are sold through its more than 330 retail stores located nationwide, including leased departments in Bed Bath & Beyond stores; through selected bedding retailers; through its national direct marketing operations at (800) 535-BEDS; and on the Internet at www.selectcomfort.com.
